Strong Seasonal Conditions, Exciting Genetics and Sale Preparations Underway
As we move through winter, preparations are well underway for our 35th Annual Glenoch Angus Sale, to be held on Tuesday 18th August 2026 at 1pm on-property and via Auctions Plus.
The season has provided plenty to be positive about. The March floods delivered valuable rainfall across the district, resulting in excellent summer grass growth and helping set up the herd for a strong autumn and winter. With good feed availability, stock has continued to perform well and the herd is looking in excellent condition heading into sale season.
Building on Proven Genetics
A key focus of our breeding program continues to be identifying sires that combine outstanding phenotype with industry-leading data.
One sire that has certainly impressed us is Cluden Newry U15 Uppercut. This young bull is setting a benchmark within the Angus breed, combining exceptional structure, phenotype and performance data. We have been extremely pleased with the quality of his progeny, with this year’s weaners displaying excellent growth, shape and consistency.
Given the strength of his results, Uppercut will again feature prominently in our 2026 AI program, particularly across our heifer joining program.
Autumn Weaning and Herd Management
May saw the completion of weaning, with a strong line of calves coming through the yards. The consistency, temperament and growth displayed throughout the weaner group gives us confidence in the direction of the herd and the genetics behind it.
Pregnancy testing has also been completed, providing another important checkpoint as we continue to focus on fertility and functionality throughout the Glenoch program.
Delivering Bulls to Clients Across the Region
One of the most rewarding parts of the year is seeing Glenoch genetics at work in commercial and seedstock herds throughout the region.
Throughout August and September last year, we spent many days on the road delivering sale bulls to clients and catching up with producers to discuss seasonal conditions, breeding objectives and herd performance. These visits provide a valuable opportunity to see how Glenoch bulls are performing in a range of environments and production systems.
The feedback continues to reinforce the traits we strive to breed into every Glenoch bull – sound structure, good temperament, fertility, longevity and practical commercial performance.
Sale Bull Assessments Underway
June marks one of the busiest periods on the calendar as we work through the final stages of sale preparation.
Bulls are currently being branded and identified for sale, semen tested, structurally assessed, independently evaluated and lotted for catalogue preparation.
These assessments form a critical part of our commitment to presenting fertile, functional and structurally sound cattle to our clients each year.
Looking Ahead to Sale Day
This year our sale will be held two weeks later than usual, so please make a note of the date: TUESDAY 18TH AUGUST 2026
We look forward to welcoming clients and industry friends to Glenoch for our 35th Annual On-Property Sale, where we will offer approximately 80 Angus bulls.
We are particularly pleased with this year’s draft, which displays excellent temperament, sound structure and strong commercial relevance. In keeping with our philosophy of breeding fertile, functional cattle, the reference sire program continues to provide valuable depth and reliability throughout the cow herd.
